Tonecast for SEO and content teams
For an SEO or content manager, Tonecast shows in which prompts your brand appears in AI answers and in which it does not, which pages the engines cite and typically draw on, and which of your own pages to update or create. It works per engine and per language, without keywords or source lists.
Tonecast is a SaaS platform that shows what AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity) say about a brand, product, person or topic, and which web pages shaped those answers. This page is for the team that already works on search and content and now needs to understand AI answers with the same precision: which questions, which engines, which pages.
Which questions does Tonecast answer for SEO and content?
| Question | Where the answer is |
|---|---|
| In which prompts do we appear, and in which only competitors do? | AI Answers: visibility per prompt and engine; Actions lists the prompts where only competitors appear |
| Which pages do AI answers cite for our prompts? | What shaped it, Cited tier, with the engines and prompts that cite each page |
| Which pages matter even when they are not cited? | What shaped it, Formative tier, ordered by influence weight per engine |
| How many cited pages are our own? | What shaped it, filtered by tier: your Owned pages next to the Cited pages others publish |
| Which of our pages are outdated but still cited? | Claims view: outdated claims with the cited pages that carry them, including your own |
| Where is information missing, so AI fills the gap with others' pages? | Actions: information gaps, the facts from your fact sheet that no engine repeats, to cover with a page of your own such as a FAQ or an up-to-date pricing page |
| Did our change make a difference? | Visibility and citations over time, per engine, with confidence intervals |
How is this different from rank tracking?
A search ranking is one position for one query. An AI answer is a paragraph that may name several brands, recommend one, quote a price and cite three pages, and it changes between runs. Tonecast therefore measures rates over repeated samples, with confidence intervals, and connects each answer to the pages behind it. The search results for your prompts are one of the inputs: they are the pool that search-grounded engines read from, so a page's position there is one component of its influence weight.
How does influence weight help prioritise?
Not every page in the source graph matters equally. The influence weight estimates, per engine, how much a page is likely to shape the answers: how often the engine cites it, how much that engine typically relies on that kind of source, the page's position in the search results for your prompts, and how recent it is. Sorting the source graph by weight shows where an update, an answer on a discussion thread or a correction request will count most. Every page also shows why it is in the graph.
Why declare owned properties?
Declaring your site, product pages and official profiles as owned properties lets Tonecast tell your pages apart from the pages others publish, read your pages for claim check, and flag owned pages that AI cites with outdated information. An old pricing page that still ranks is one of the most common reasons AI quotes a wrong price.
Can we use the data in our own reports?
Yes. AI answers and the source graph export to CSV with the filters you applied, so they can be joined with your own search and analytics data.
