Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of the Terms of Service of Tonecast. It applies to every Customer and User and to the use of Outputs. Capitalised terms have the meaning given in the Terms. Tonecast exists to help businesses understand, and make more accurate, what AI assistants say about brands, products, public figures and topics. The rules below keep it that way.

1. Lawful use

Use the Service only for lawful business purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws, including data-protection, consumer-protection, advertising, competition, intellectual-property, export-control and sanctions laws.

2. People and privacy

You must not:

• run campaigns about private individuals, or use the Service to monitor, track or profile them; campaigns about a person are allowed only for public figures, and only in relation to their public role;
• use prompts designed to obtain personal data about private individuals from AI assistants;
• use the Service to infer or analyse special categories of personal data about any individual, such as health, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, or criminal records;
• use the Service or Outputs to harass, intimidate, threaten, defame, dox or discriminate against anyone;
• use Outputs to take decisions about individuals' employment, credit, insurance, housing or access to services.

3. AI systems and search engines

Improving what AI assistants say by publishing accurate information, correcting errors on your own pages, asking publishers to fix outdated content or responding honestly to reviews is exactly what Tonecast is for. You must not:

• use Outputs to produce spam, fake reviews, fake personas, content farms or coordinated inauthentic content;
• attempt to manipulate AI systems or search engines deceptively, for example by planting false statements, hidden instructions or content designed to poison their training or retrieval;
• publish false or misleading claims about competitors or anyone else on the basis of Outputs;
• submit prompts that breach the usage policies of the AI Providers, or that attempt to bypass their safety measures;
• use the Service to generate illegal content or content that sexualises minors.

4. Content you submit

You must not submit Customer Inputs that:

• infringe the intellectual-property, privacy or other rights of third parties;
• contain confidential information you are not authorised to share;
• contain special categories of personal data, data about criminal convictions, or personal data of children;
• contain malware or code designed to damage or gain unauthorised access to systems.

Declare as owned properties only websites and accounts that you own or are authorised to represent.

5. Security and integrity of the Service

You must not:

• circumvent Plan limits, spending budgets, rate limits, access controls or other technical restrictions;
• create multiple Organizations or accounts to evade limits or a suspension;
• share credentials, or let anyone who is not a User access the Service through your account;
• probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service without our written permission;
• access the Service by automated means other than the interfaces we provide, or place an unreasonable load on it;
• copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the Service, except to the extent the law allows despite this restriction;
• systematically extract Outputs or other data to build a competing product or dataset.

6. Resale and agencies

You may not resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties, except on the Agency plan, which allows you to use the Service for your clients as described in the Terms. Agencies remain responsible for their clients' use and for making sure that client campaigns comply with this AUP.

7. Reporting and enforcement

Report suspected violations to support@tonecast.io. If we believe this AUP has been breached, we may remove or disable the content concerned, pause campaigns, suspend Users or accounts, or terminate the Terms, as set out in Sections 16 and 17 of the Terms. Where practicable, we will tell you first and give you the chance to fix the problem. We may update this AUP; material changes are notified as set out in Section 22 of the Terms.
